Activate Efans With Tech2

Recommended Posts

Alrighty so I will be putting in my electric fans sometime this week hopefully, and the easiest way to activate them would be with a tech 2. The problem is, the dealership and the one other shop with a tech 2 thinks im nuts and it wont work. So, if anyone has experience with a tech 2 or has access to one and knows how to turn the electric fan option on and set the on/off temps, I would tremendously appreciate a walkthrough I can print out for them so I can get it done.

Thanks.

2004 MY didnt have electric cooling fans and the PCM is different than 2005 when elect fans were standard on #1500's.

I used a controller from Jeg's to run my C5 fans & A/C.

Right. Mechanical fans were stock on the 03-04s, but electrics came with the 05-07classicss. 03-07 use the same PCM so I know its possible...

You can get a electric fan wiring harness from Nelson Performance, and it wires the fans right into a pin on your PCM. You need tuning software to do this, not a Tech 2. Then you can control the temp they come on and what not.

edit: basically what everyone else has told you.

I know I can turn them on with my Dashhawk, but I don't know that it's a) adjustable or b) if the Dashhawk works on your truck.

Alrighty, thanks guys. I have them setup manually with a DPDT switch so I have the high and low settings under my control. I made my own harness using the stock diagram - half the costs of nelson's. I am thinking about picking up hptuners or efilive and dabling in tuning a bit, but for now the switch suffices.

If anyone is interested in my install then you can see it here: http://www.fullsizechevy.com/forums/image-...tml#post3286650

Okay, wow, nice diagram. Just what I was looking for.

Looking at doing this conversion on my 1500HD. It has the 6.0 and 34" wide radiator.

(At least the current fan shroud is 34")

My idea is to use fans like these:

Plus the wiring as per the diagram by atenisplyr.

So, my question is will I be able to use my truck computer to turn on/off the fans, and if so, how do I enable that?

What programmer will work with my 2001 for e-fans, if any??

Plus my stock clutch fan seems to be engaged all the time, so seems like a good time to upgrade.

thanks
