It's hot , very hot here in the deep south. I tend to try and change my oil and service everything more frequently in the summer due to the high temps. What do you guys due during the changes of the season.

I deffinatley think Winter Months are more harsh on your vehicle compared to summer. At least here in Detroit. Just all the slush and salt getting all over the interior and exterior drives me crazy and theres always going to be something thats going to start rusting. Atleast in the summer I can usually always keep it clean if it doesn't rain and temps don't climb that much higher either.

Winter, hands down. You're dumb to think otherwise.

Do you ever hear of a classic vehicle for sale that says "Northern car! Never stored for winter!" ???

Instead you hear "Southern Car" or "Stored during Winters"

Salt is killer.

winter, but that's because we (up in northern Michigan) spend 6-7 months going through it. the salted roads eat up rocker panels, and don't even think about running chrome accessories, unless it's stainless...it'll rust.

We don't have harsh winters here, so I'm going with summer. I'd say extreme heat is probably worse on the mechanicals and extreme cold worse on exterior/interior, plastic/rubber/EPDM parts, batteries, etc.

I have to disagree with you here Dean. Nothing is worse on an engine (the mechanicals) than a cold winter start with that thick oil trying to meander it's way through the engine. I'll start my truck in 100 degree weather over 0 degree weather anyday.

I live in Florida, so winters are not an issue. However, extreme heat and harsh sun in the summer will definitely damage the paint in time, and it is hard on the interior too. I live on the coast, so we get our share of salt spray all year around. You would be amazed how corrosive coastal Florida areas really are. The best way to protect your truck from summer heat is to use a sunshade on your front window every time you park your truck in the sun, and wax it regularly, or use Zip Car wash every time you hand wash the truck. This is what I use and my paint stays shiny despite the hot sun. My 9 year old Mazda with still beautiful shiny factory paint is a good example.

Engines, transmissions and most other parts on vehicles are designed specifically to perform at high temperatures. No one goes and starts their vehicles in the summer time to let them cool down. Winters are harsher, no comparison, and that's without even bringing salt and ice into the equation.
