Problem With Gear Selector

Recommended Posts

So lately my truck hasn't been showing the gear that it is in. That little line underneath the PRND321. Not a big deal because I can still tell where I'm at when I shift it. But it has stopped locking and unlocking the doors and not allowing the keyless system to work. Its odd and I was wondering if anyone had the same problem or knows how to fix it?

EDIT: And just so we are clear its the one down in my signature.

When it happened on my Ford, it turned out to be worn bushings in the steering column. Just got my Chevy, so I'm not sure if it is the same basic design.

I'm not thinking that could be it because the selector is digital. But I have no idea.

It's all good. At least you haven't made a "which exhaust thread" yet.

so when he gets that gear selector fixed, which CAI should he put in and then what exhaust will complement it the best. now it's covered. no worries. lol

Well I was thinking about going with a AFE CAI and a Magnaflow 4" exhaust, but what do you guys think? :seeya::(:fume::D Dang it

Anyway it threw a code about 7:00 tonight so I'm gonna try to get to O'Reilly's in the morning and see what it is.

i gonna take a guess at the PRNDL switch on the trans, have changed a few, firstly cause they don`t read the position and they caused weird unrelated probs too...may be your code...

The codes are (drumroll please) P0700: Transmission Control System Malfunction, and P0708: Transmission Range Sensor Circuit High Input.

Lately the truck has had some rather rough shifts. Only once in awhile. The first one I noticed felt like I had ran over a Mazda or something.
