Gonna Pick Up Some Rock

What's the approx. weight of a half yard of landscaping rock? :D 1,500lbs? Just wondering if I should pick it up or pay to have it delivered (I'll need two loads if I pick it all up). There's no way I'm going to carry a whole yard of rock in this thing. As long as I can keep it under 2K I'll be fine I think.

I just had my tranny flushed with amsoil ATF the other day and I want to test her out.

Damn...she shifts and drives good now. I don't have that "dragging a boat anchor" sensation I had before. I also had new autotrak fluid (blue stuff) put in the TC. :D

Most of the large rock I'm seeing online is listing 1.4 tons for a cubic yard. So, 2800 pounds for a cubic yard. Half of that is 1400 or so. You should be fine.

Depending on the delivery charge, I think I might be tempted to just have them deliver it, to save myself the time and trouble... But, that depends on how much they're going to charge to deliver it.

...and where they're going to put it. Rock truck drivers are less than careful.

If they're anything like firewood deliverers, I'd pick it up myself. We had firewood delivered last fall, and my dad specifically told the guy to dump it on the right side of the driveway, the side closest to the chimney. Guess where he dumped it. On the left side of the driveway, falling into the bushes, and right where I park my truck. I had to park in the street for a week.

Pick it up yourself. That's why you got a truck. :D

I have been hauling 1/2 to 3/4 yard of crushed limestone for my driveway on a regular basis in my 1500. The larger the aggregate, the less it will weigh per volume, so you should be good up to 3/4 yard if you take it easy.

That's what I figure. I had about 3K lbs. of dirt in the back once and that pushed it pretty far, my overload looked flat lol.

I put a yard of mulch in the old 88 Ford. Squatted like a mofo but it worked out. The straight six loved big loads...that doesn't sound right.

I hope you had windshield wipers...

I hauled 3600 lbs of patio pavers in an old '74 Chevy 3/4 ton. She deffinately breathed a sigh of relief when I unloaded it.

The cement mixer yard I went to to get all that gravel wanted to charge $50 delivery for taking about 2 miles. The gravel only cost me like $17.

Yeah it's like a flat rate for delivery I think they want 70 bucks for up to as much as their truck can carry. I only need a yard at most so I'm like fug it. Not to mention I'd like to keep it all in the bed so I can drive around to my back yard instead of scooping it off my driveway.

Alright so I picked up the first load approx 1500lbs. and handled it way better than I thought. I wasn't even on the bump stops yet. GG Z85 suspension.
