Exactly what software are you looking for?

I think its called the tis psp or something of that nature.

I need to be able to do some changes in the bcm to make the swap possible im guessing.

My vehicle is a 2007 NNBS Silverado 5.3L AFM

I can get the tech 2 with the CANdi module, but need the pc software to do some bcm programming.

Here is what i want to do, get the 6 speed from the 07 2500hd in the 07 nnbs 1500.

If you can help me out i would appriciate it.

I am currently in search of the 6 speed and harness from the 07 2500 hd.

As far as I know, GM will only have calibrations for a truck that has the engine and trans combinations. Your engine did not come with a 6sp trans. There may be aftermarket calibrations to accomplish this, but not with the tech 2 or GM calibrations. We still cannot change calibrations for tire sizes that GM does not sell.

Then how would i go about changing settings in the BCM? if not with the software?

You would need to reprogram the BCM, TCM, ECM, EBCM, possibly the IPC. There are not any setting you can just change, you will need new calibrations for these and possibly more modules. Also, the TCM for the 6spd is in the transmission where the TCM for the 4spd is else where. You would have to change major harnesses to even get the electronics to power up, but without calibrations, and GM does not have calibrations for the combination you want, none of it would work. Sorry.

what does the bcm control on transmission.

Would i be able to take a 6.0L and 6 speed combo from a 2500hd and drop it in my silvy with its bcm?

BCM- Body Control Module- controls things like lights, door locks, security. ECM- Engine control module- controls engine related functions along with emission. TCM Transmission control module- controls the transmission. All the modules talk to each other and swap info for shifting, cruise, 4WD, Security, along with more data than I can write with out looking in the manual. I guess you could take the power train from a 6L and drop it in, change all the harnesses, modules and such, but I expect it would be cheaper to buy a truck with a 6spd in it.

Ok Heres what i was thinking, since the 6.0L and the 5.3L are almost the same engine, find a 2500hd with the same options as i have, and transfer the bcm over, now getting it to learn the new ecm is another question. How would i go about getting the new bcm to learn the new ecm? Since the ecm controls the engine, the tcm is inside the tranny, only thing is left to get the bcm to control the body stuff and since the donor vehicle has the same options as my vehicle, i dont think there should be a problem right?

One guy has already done the swap but i havnt had the chance to talk to him, only thing he said was the cluster wont show 321 gears, and when you select it it shows a code, and fuel pump is showing 98psi all the time.

Hes in the process of getting a different model fuel pump.

    • Thanks, all. It sounds like keeping the software "as is" is the best course of action.
    • https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Overengineering   Excerpt from the above link: (BTW the above is a 90 second read)   [Quote]   A story about very precise engineering is given in the 1858 story The Deacon's Masterpiece or, the Wonderful "One-hoss Shay": A Logical Story by Oliver Wendell Holmes Sr., which tells of a carriage (one-horse shay) Because it had been engineered so that no single piece failed first – no piece was over-engineered relative to the others, and they thus all collapsed at the same time. A similar quote by Ferdinand Porsche claimed "the perfect race car crosses the finish line in first place and immediately falls into pieces."[5]   [End Quote}   By Engineering's  own definition then; the AFM and Torque Converters, 4-5-6 clutch assembly of the 6L80E, and a dozen other common chronic parts and systems failures are "UNDER ENGINEERED". And by their own definition done so with INTENT. Ya can't have it both ways OEM's.

    • I was in Utah this week attempting a bow hunt in the Wasatch mountains with friends.  On the evening of the first hunt, making my way across a ridge to a friends camp, the upper control arm on the driver's side separated, the CV axle got trashed, and the wheel was dang near at a 45 degree angle to the ground.  I was able to get it towed off the mountain and into town about 3:00 am, and spent the remainder of the night in an O'Reilly's parking lot.  Luckily, there was a Chevrolet dealership not to far away so I was able to get to the dealership and pick up a new CV and UCA.  It would have been a few days before they could have gotten to the truck and I brought tools with me on hunt since it was a two day drive to get there, so I did the repairs myself in the O'Reilly's parking lot.      What's interesting is that the UCA ball joint didn't break, it just popped out of the bottom of the UCA.  There was VERY LITTLE evidence of grease on the ball joint or in the socket, and you could see where the ball joint had warbled out part of the socket over time.  I guess that's what happens over 186K miles of use :)   Big Kudos to O'Reilly's for letting me work on the truck in their parking lot.  However, they made a $150+ off of me from the purchase of various tools, so I guess it was in their best interest anyways :)   Getting towed off the mountain.   UCA Ball Joint Socket   Trashed CV   Suspension disconnected and UCA and CV Removed   New UCA and CV installed with the suspension buttoned up.
    • My family still laughs at me when they see me drive up in the minivan. Same with less than a V-8 truck. It helps that I have choices. I don’t think I could only have a minivan as the one and only vehicle as much as I like it. And I wouldn’t pass up a good buy on an older V-8 reg cab GM truck. Could you live Raven as the only ride?
