Code With Superchips Tune

Wasn't getting much attention over in the tuning forum, so thought I'd try over here...

I'm not bashing Superchips at all (in fact drive-ability of the truck is much improved), and yes I will be contacting their customer support tonight, but I'm getting an engine code with the performance tune installed, but I think there is a chance it was a problem prior to getting the flashpaq...

Superchips flashpaq (2815) was on order. A few days before it came in I got a message 2 or 3 times saying my gas cap was loose when it was not. Flashpaq arrived and I uploaded the performance tune (not too shabby BTW... shifting is much nicer, holds RPM longer, some extra power, and overall really just wants to get up and run). Next day however the SES light comes on with a P0449 code "Evaporative Emission Control System Vent Valve/Solenoid Circuit Malfunction".

Now I'm thinking it is not due to the tune, but if I clear the code and restore to the stock program the code does not set after days of driving. A few days later I tried the tune out again and within a few hours of driving SES light comes on again with the same code.

Anyone else have a similar problem?

Could it be the tune is for some reason just enough to push the voltage out of range and trip a DTC, but not the stock program?

Thoughts???

BTW I'm still under warranty and I'm bringing it in tomorrow. Problem is when I switched back to the stock tune it cleared the code. Not sure dealership will even look at diagnosing it with the code not present. Kind of a pickle because it seems the only way I can get the code is with the tune, but then I can't leave the tune installed and go to the dealership due to a chance they will flash over the tune and/or blame the tune for the problem.

Chris, I wish I could help you because I know this has got to be frustrating. I would think you are on the right track with your thinking but I just do not know what you can do about it unless you could find a Dealership that was ok with the SC and promised not to re-flash your pCM.

Well truck is at the dealership so we'll see...

I'm still getting the loose gas cap message with the stock tune so I'm hopeful that they'll find something. I gotta imagine the gas cap message and the code have something to do with each other. I think it would be too much of a coincidence for the two to happen at the same time.

I think the procedure for testing the vent selonoid only requires a volt meter so I could do my own trouble shooting if they "can't reproduce the problem".

Hey, I programmed the 07 Sierra two days ago and used the performance tune 91 octane setting, raised rev limiter, and speed limiter to its highest values.

The day after programming I took 30 min. drive to the kids doctors and 30 min. back the ranch with no problems. No codes what so ever.

Just like I noticed in the GTO, better throttle response, better launching, and the engine even sounds louder. Was unable to try the speedlimiter...had kids and wife with me. I contacted superchips through their customer service email on their homepage and had a response the very next day along with a phone call. I wanted their decals that didnt come with my last programmer. They are sending two out tomorrow.

Have nothing else to say about superchips but awesome. It may not compare to the blackbear tunes Im hearing about on the forum here, but it may be the next best thing...Thier forum is very slow, I believe they only one person moderating the whole deal... good luck...my part number is 2815

So the code was pure coincidence... it was a faulty evpaorative canister vent valve/selonoid and was replaced under warranty. After a long trip up to Maine and back with the 91 octane perf tune no codes and no problems. I think I even gained a bit of MPG's. I averaged 20.5 MPG on the trip and that was driving about 75 MPH with the ACC on.
