Oil What Type Do You Use In Your Truck?

I know this is probably one of the most basic questions out there. And again this is only like my 3rd or 4th post.

But what type(brand/weight) of oil do you guys use in your trucks? I'm a fluid fanatic. I religiously believe in changing my coolant every 2 years, my power steering every 2, my transmission every 30k & my oil every 3k.

Some of my friends think I'm nuts but I have a GM truck with 200k miles on it & it runs like a machine still!

Personally I've been using 10W 30 Quaker State high milieage in my old truck then I switched to high mileage synthetic mobile one using a half quart of Lucas Oil.

For my new truck I may use the Mobile One special synthetic blend for 4x4s.

I'm curious to know what kind of oils & what oil additives you guys may use with a new truck & once your truck gets near 75k-100k miles?

I run 5w30 Mobil1 synthetic with a Napa Gold (Wix) filter, and change every 5k. I've currently got almost 171,000 miles.

There are as many threads on this subject as there are differing opinions so run a search, and you should have hours upon hours of reading. :jester:

Amsoil 5w-30 runs great and its a true synthetic i changed over from mobil 1 about 5k ago just over 40k on the truck. Between that the flowmaster and cold air intake i can get up to 22mpg in my 5.3 on the highway. I also use the amsoil filters they're the only ones that'll last the life of the oil.

Amsoil 5 30 with CARQUEST premium filters by Wix.

No additives used, only oil. I am not opposed to some additives if they are truly needed. We sell hundreds of them but most are made to sell, not use. I do recommend Rislone quite often for any type of lifter noise. If the noise is from gum, varnish etc, it will typically cure the problem.

Mobil1 in my vehicles.

You REALLY should use the search function before posting. There is a TON of oil information in here and some darn good reading in some of those oil threads. I'm not trying to be nasty... just letting you know. It keeps duplicate threads from being the norm.

Cheers.
