Shift Points

On my Tuner i can adjust shift points.....

 

is this something very usefull or what does it even do?

Cody, you can certainly do this but you will need to increase your rev limiter as well. In other words if you increase your shift point for the 1-2 shift by 300 RPMs, and you do not increase your rev limiter, you will likely hit the rev limit and it will fall on it's face.

 

Unless you have some good mods that are allowing for more HP at higher RPMs, there is likely little value in increasing your shift points. Some people do this just so they do not loose so many revs btween shifts.

 

My Hypertech allows for this and I moved my shift points slightly. I increased my 1-2 shift by 300 RPMs, my 2-3 and 3-4 by 200 RPMs. I am not real sure why I did it because my truck would rarely ever see these revs.

 

Someone more experienced with me an add to this or correct me if I am wrong.

yes that would be great! I own a maxenergy ,and would like to hear from an expert what setting for shifiting points would be the best...
