HAS ANY ONE TRYED THIS http://www.fitchcatalyst.com/ . IT IS TO SAVE YOU 1-2.5 MPG. SO THAY SAY.I AM TRYING TO SAVE SOMEWHERE. BUT HAY THE TRUCK IS PAID FOR. 2001 2500HD 8.1 ALLISON , JBA HEADERS, COOD AIR IN TAKE ,285-75-16 AND GIBSON 4 INCH EX.

Not a chance - it's an overpriced fuel filter. If there was some magic cure it would be standard equipment installed by the factory and marked up thousands $$.

If you want to save on fuel lose the 285's and reduce your rolling resistance.

You would be much better off getting one of those Tornado intake insert. At least you would be out less money. Oh, or maybe tape a couple cow magnets to the fuel line....Yup! I can't believe they get away with selling that garbage.

Best ways to improve fuel mileage - as presented by me.

1. Proper tire inflation. This is NOT what it states on the door, but where the tires wear the best (provided you have moved away from the OEM size/brand). Start with those figures, and adjust from there.

2. Run with as little extra weight as possible and topper/tonneau cover on if you have one. On a short bed, KEEP THE GATE UP. On a long bed, this is still up for debate (since every test I have seen on it has been done on short boxes), but I have personally seen better results running with the gate down.

3. Slow down 5mph and set your cruise (within certain limits). Obviously you want to be in OD with your converter locked in an automatic, but you don't want your engine to be laboring hard. In my car, the sweet spot for mileage is about 65 mph. In my truck it's about 60. Basically, it's the point at which your vehicle runs UNDER 2000 RPM.

4. Baby the gas and don't mash the brake unless you need to. Rushing to the next light wastes fuel and wears out your brakes faster.

5. Tune up. Check your plugs, wires, cap/rotor/coil (or coil packs, since that's what most of you have now). Switch to synthetic oil in your engine/trans/TFC/diffs to reduce heat and friction.

6. Get your computer tuned for gas mileage. Dyno tunes are the most accurate, but purchasing an aftermarket PCM usually helps alot.

7. Cold air intake and free-flowing exhaust. You'll lose some torque but gain HP up top, but the elimination of restrictions will net you extra mpg's too.

That's pretty much it. This has been gathered over several years and experimenting with different cars.
