Wheel Hop

Anybody have a serious wheel hop problem in the sand. Is there anyway to get rid of it?

Not in the sand...can you provide more info on conditions, ie, soft sand vs. hard packed, psi you're running in the tires, accelerating/braking, etc.? I'm in the soft sand all summer at 15 psi and don't have any wheel hop.

i have horrible wheel hop in my driveway(gravel) but it's when i'm unloaded and running 60 psi in the tires

It will wheel hop on hard or soft dirt. I run about 60 PSI in the rear tires. I can't spin the tires at all or its turns into a earthquake inside my truck.

sounds like the limited slip diff kicking in, it's trying to prevent wheelspin.

No , I think it is just the heavy duty suspension with no load in it. My 1500 doesn't do it at all .

My 07 4x4 hd with G80 has the same problem,the second the rear wheels brake loose its a instant shudder on my gravel/sand driveway in 2WD with those stock 245 tires-terrible.I wonder if better shocks would do anything for it?

Yes, a heavy duty shock will help a LOT with wheel hop, though not make it go away completely.

Yep, dealt with it in cars and trucksquite a bit. When you get into heavy springs (for load in trucks, handling in cars) with live axles, wheel hop is always an issue to some degree. The Bilstein HDs would be good, I had them on my 2000 1500 LT, and I'll be putting them on the 08 as well. The Rancho 9ks would be good too, and you get the bonus of being able to adjust them to find the best combo of ride and control for your taste. I don't have any experience with KYBs for trucks, but on cars, they tend to go with a less agressive valving, and that would take away from it's ability to control wheel hop.
