Such A Good Girl!

My daughter is just 2, but already she really likes trucks.

When she knows or thinks we are going out, she'll ask "Truck ride?" if I say "yes", she'll start running around saying "truck ride! Shoes!" and looking for her shoes. It's cute to see.

The other day we were trying to escape from this parking lot where there were a bunch of yahoo's not really moving anywhere and not seemingly knowing where they were going, when my daughter called out from the back seat "Punch it!". Of course the people in the Rav4 in front of me wouldn't have been too appreciative if I had done that.

She also likes to go fast. If she feels I'm not going fast enough, she'll start saying "vroom, vroom". She's also a fan of being bounced around, that is going over large speed bumps, going down bumpy roads at a good clip. When walking through a parking lot, she'll point out all the trucks, identifying them as trucks, but will pass by cars without interest (I am trying to get her interested in Corvette's though).

What are you gonna do when she starts dating guys that drive trucks?

Better nip it in the bud now.

If you don't, you will pay big time later.

She's started on the right foot. Get her interested in classic American V8 muscle. Doesn't matter what brand, as long as it's classic American V8 muscle. My personal preference is GM F-bodies, specifically Firebirds and Trans Am's...but that's just me.

How she'll be when she reaches the pre-teen and teen hell years, we'll have to see.

Around here I don't worry as much about the guys who drive trucks over the guys who drive the sport imports (ie: ricers).

A parent can only do the best they can. I intend to try my best to instill the self confidence (without arrogance) and skills so that she won't be anyone's submissive doormat.

I was telling my wife the other night that by the time she's 12 I'd like to see he at least helping doing oil changes and brakes on our vehicles.

I am going to try to create an interest/affection for classic V8 muscle. Few things sound as nice as a big block V8 purring away.

Sounds like a smart kid. You should compare notes with Jeff (VMAX2007) about what it's like to have a teenage daughter. I think he keeps a shotgun by the door for starters! :)

Yep, she is 15, almost 16 and a complete PITA!!!

Funny story:

She had her first "date" (we won't allow real dating until she is 16) over on Sunday to watch a movie. She asked me to help her get the theater set-up downstairs, so while I was setting it up, the first scene in "Live free, Die Hard" started. In this opening scene, Bruce Willis's daughter and her boyfriend were in a car making out and he breaks in and rips him out of the car and starts roughing him up. I finished setting the screen size ratio, then set the remote down, looked right at this kid (I had never met him before) and said: "If you think he is tough....." as I smacked my fist into my palm. You should have seen the look on their faces. It was PRICELESS!!! I told my wife about it and she almost died laughing.

I couldn't have scripted this scenario any better for her first date. :)

Oh to have had a camera to have captured your daughters expression.

Oh that is such a classic story and I so intend to do something similar. Them teenage guys need to know that their future depends on how they treat my little girl.

Now this would be impracticle but funny. Have an area of a wall with life like teenage guys heads mounted on it, with an open area with the tag <Your Head Here>. If he asks what happened to the bodies, just say "How's the burger taste?".

Nothing like instilling a bit of the fear of the father in them.

Awesome. I'll tell you from experience. Raising girls is no picnic. Your damned if you do, and damned if you don't, and s.o.b. if they don't turn on you, to get back at you for threatening their so called boy friends.

Start a savings account to pay for her speeding tix.
