I`m sure that will suck for alot of people, especially companies that run big fleets, can no longer runem` and dumpem` after a year of abuse, have to buy them outright pretty much

It was announced that GM will drop leasing after August 2008.

Where did you get that from? Everything I am reading says lease incentives are in jeapardy.

Leases will always be offered, but adjusted for current crappy SUV and truck residual values

I was reading in the paper today that here in Canada, GM will do away with leasing incentives, which means for a lease they will offer the going lease rate as opposed to extremely low rates. Whatever. On the flip side, the paper did mention that perhaps the rates for buying, as opposed to leasing, can be negotiated down a bit more then they have in the past, which can be a good thing for buyers.

They will only drop them if they are not profitable. Maybe just on trucks and SUVs?

Whether GM drops leasing or not, will probably not change the customers options at the dealer. The dealers will just pick up another company that will lease the vehicle to the customer; it just won't come from GM's financing arm.
