Hypertech Programmers On 4.8l's?

I'm getting ready so when my programmer comes in. What I was wondering was if anyone had any suggestions on shift points,max speed, an rev limiter settings for a 4.8L, 3.42 gear'd pickup? From what I've gathered, 5.3L pickups rev up much higher- so I don't know if settings for that engine would work the same. An, did anyone adjust thier shift points as per Hypertech's manual? PITA? Guess, I'm just trying to get some reference points on where to start.

I cannot help you on the 4.8 but will tell you what I did on my 5.3.

 

I matched my top speed to my T rated tires which I believe was 118. Not that my Yuk XL will ever see this.

 

I raised rev limiter about 500 RPMs so I would not bump it with the increased shift points.

 

I raised my 1-2 shift by 300 RPMs and my 2-3 and 3-4 by 200. This is really easy to do and this only comes into play at wide open throttle.

 

I increased my shift firmness by 25%, this is the first step allowed with the Hypertech. You can move it on up 3 more settings if you wish. Mine is just right for me at the first setting.

 

I tuned for premium and left my axle ratio and tire size settings alone.

 

Just follow the instructions either printed or in the unit and it will walk you right through it.
