07 Sierra Electrical Problem

So just a few minutes ago on my way home I hear a "pop" thru the speakers and the XM dies out and says XM can not be reached due to communication problem on my NAV Screen....so I'm driving down the Interstate and thought well I will try OnStar to see if they know anything.....well next thing I know the OnStar doesn't work either, the lights on the mirror work, and the green light flashes when I try to contact them, however I have no communication with them what so ever.....then I get home and shut the truck off to open the door on the driver side and the radio is stuck on....I have also lost my backup camera....so finally I get out and disconnect the battery and rehook battery up and everything now seems fine....does anyone know what might have caused this on my truck?? I am getting ready to head to South Texas next week all the way from IL and really do not want to have any problems with this along the way. Anyone seen this or know if there are any bullitens out there on this?

WOW... strange. It really just sounds like a glitch in the main unit. I've had PCs on my network do similar things and upon rebooting, everything is fine and never happens again. Hopefully this will be your outcome. If it happens again, I'd get to the dealer and perhaps get the head unit replaced. (like you hadn't already thought of that!)

Could be a hidden short that blew a fuse that was connected to everything. Id dealer it up and make them replace the NAV and see if everything else is working properly.

Went to the dealership today and they plugged it in....there were a few Trouble Code's but most were old....one was recent though and that was a Short in the Lumbar Position Sensor in the Driver Seat....they don't know if this caused it, but took the seat apart and couldn't find anything....there were also a few expired trouble codes that dealt with the seats, and door switches, etc.....I don't know what the deal is and neither do they....all seems to be well now... :D

Check the wiring harness that runs behind/around the parking brake mechanism. There is a known problem that wires in that area can get rubbed/damaged.

Thanks for the Compliment on the Truck....I agree with you on the White....I didn't think it could look that good until I had one either....

A couple of months ago mine did the same thing, even the movie was playing on the front screen while we were driving. No XM radio, OnStar did not work, etc. I even pulled over and shut off and exited the truck and it was all still playing. When we got to our destination I thought I was going to have to disconnect the battery, but when I got out everything was fine. No problems since. Kinda wierd.

I just had a similar issue happen to my 07 Silverado. It made a loud pop through the speakers and for a bit I could not change the channel. The Favorite buttons at the bottom the screen would change, but the station stayed the same. I went back to the channel I was on and then everything was working fine.

Here's the part I like. I checked my XM channels and I have them all. I was not previously subscribed to XM and did not have any channels. I'm not sure how long it will last, but I will enjoy it while it does.

Good luck with you hunt.

Thanks for all the Input Guys....the Dealership called me back today after speaking with TAC and TAC has had similar cases reported, and has suggested the dealership replace the actual seat harness in my truck on the driver seat. There has been some reported issues on alot of the SLT/LTZ trucks with this problem and this seems to be the fix. They are to Replace Seat Harness and Re Route the Wires away from any sharp edges. Maybe this will help get rid of the Trouble Codes that the Driver Seat has presented.
