Ac Clutch Not Engaging

I replaced my AC compressor, drier, and orifice tube on my 99 Blazer 4.3 with manual climate controls. Then vacuumed the system and made sure it held the vacuum. Now I have about 2/3 of a can of freon in it but the compressor will not engage. I did jumper the switch at the drier and the motor revs some but the clutch doesn't engage. My gauges show 90 on the low and 85 on the high with the motor running ac on max. How can I test the compressor? All that was wrong to start with was the old compressor was leaking around the back of the housing. Thanks,

I just checked the fuses in the fuse box under the hood and the 10 amp fuse marked a/c was blown. I installed a new one and turned on the a/c and the fuse blew again. Any ideas? Thanks,

Put a new fuse in, unplug the compressor, start the truck and light up the a/c.

Sorry I haven't checked back in lately. I did what you said and it didn't blow the fuse. So the company I bought the compressor from sent me another one and all is well now. They said it could have had a short in the clutch coil. Thanks,
