Proper Cam

Hey guys. I am looking for a good cam that will give me good gains in hp but not affect my daily drivability. I have a regular 5.3L. I use my truck as just a driver. The most I would tow is a Polaris Personal watercraft. Any Help?

I'd suggest getting a good tune. It should be less expensive and the overall gains are better.

Getting e fans, headers and a tune all at once. The cam I was told in conjunction with everything else would give me quite a bit of increase in hp! Just need to know what cam?

Go no bigger than 220/220 112LSA for a good daily driver.

Cams can be tricky. Call some of the manufactors and ask lots of questions. They will be able to determine what cam will fit your need or application.

100% agree!!! Call a few manufacturers (Comp Cams, Crane, Lunati, Bullet, etc) and get recommendations. They will have a laundry list of questions for you and will give you 2 or 3 cams to choose from. A cam is the heart of an engine. If you pick the wrong one you will hate it! What ever you do, don't let a back yard engine builder pick it or go with a cam that "my buddy had". That is a bad idea.

I'd say go with the cam that Sam just showed you. A member on here has one that is just a little bit smaller then that one and loves it for daily driving.

I have the cam linked in the lower lift version and its an excellent DD cam. If anything I gained some low end, mid range, and high end power. Pulls great to 6000+ rpm, and has good off idle drivable power. They also have smaller durations like you mentioned which would give more lower end. If he has a big 4 door 4x4 I wouldn't go bigger than the 212 218.
