Interested in opinions/feedback on new GM crate engine versus Jasper. Local garage swears by Jasper, wonder about others experience? Thanks

I don't know much about the Jaspers but GM has been marketing crate engines with warranties for years so I would personally stick with that.

GM builds a fantastic crate motor...  You can pick and choose what HP you want and still get a great warranty!!!     My friend just installed a 502cu/502 HP in a '76 Camaro (not my choice of cars) but I personally can't wait to see that thing on the road and take a ride in it!!!

What a coincidence!

The father of one of my friends just bought a crate 502 yesterday for a '66 Corvette.

That should be a heluva ride when he gets it finished.

Dave,

I know that most, if not all GM motors come with a 50,000 mile warranty.

I've heard of Jasper engines, but only in racing circles. I've never heard anything but good on their race engines.

I hear that Jasper motors are good, but I still have to wonder since I never have seen one win a Nascar event. And as for a warranty it is only as good as the paper it is written on. I have seen a couple of G.M. Dealers work people over who installed a G.M. motor. If something goes wrong they will try to pick you apart by the age old question, Are you a certified Mechanic? Do you have every receipt for the oli changes? Did you install it correctly. etc I have learned to use good machine shops and build it myself, Then I have no one else to blame.
