Nbs 20" Tires. How Are They?

I was just wondering how the Goodyear Eagle LS-2 are on the new trucks? Thinking of getting a NBS and dont know if i should stick with the 17" rims. I cant see them being very good in the snow. I like the look of the 20" tires but I dont think they are going to be practicle in the winter here with snow and ice.

a taller, narrower tire is always going to be better in snow. If that's your main concern, go with 17s or 18s.

They suck! I replaced mine before making it through even one winter.

Go with 17's or 18's. It's a truck, not a Pimpmobile. Right Scott and Tobias? :D

Here, you tell me which looks better and which is best suited for a 4x4 truck:

Don't listen to him! :D

They are great... IF you get the right tires. I have the Pirelli Scorpion ATRs and they are excellent in bad weather. I love em. Bad thing is you will have to buy new tires to get them.

I'd probably go for the 17s that come stock. They're cheaper and will certainly do better in the snow than the Goodyears.

I have both rims, 17" with Goodyear Wrangler AT/S and the 20" rims with the Goodyear Eagle LS2 and IMO the Eagle LS2 are quieter and look better. If your going to get the 17" rims go with the Goodyear Wrangler AT/S, I've had the General Americrap and those tires sucks they barely lasted me 20,000 miles and they were wasted, my Goodyear Wrangler have 25,000 miles and they still look good.

Here is a pic with the 17'' rims

IMO, I think the 20's look way better, but the 17's are way lighter.

I like the 20's on my Tahoe. Mine have Bridgestone Duelers. Havent been in snow yet.

As you can see in my sig, those are the stock tires that came with the truck. Given your estimate, I've got only 10k more miles before they are shot to hell. Had the Wranglers on my old Dodge, they did hold up pretty well.

I have the 20" rims/LS2 tires and like them mainly for the looks. Since I've had the truck only a short time, I have no experience in the snow, but looking at the reviews on Tirerack, the LS2's are not rated highly and as expected have some negative comments about performance in the snow. I think huero626 has the right idea. I'm planning to pick up some 17" rims and mount some good mud/snow tires to use in the winter.

Edit: Oops, forgot to add the obligatory "Shut up Jeff :D ". Can a lowly two wrencher say that? :dunno:

Sure, you can say it, doesn't mean I'll listen though.

Traction in the snow all depends on the tread and width of the tire. Narrow is always better. You can have 17" or 18" wheels with a wide tire, say a 305 or 285/70/17, and it will still suck. You can get 20" wheels with a aggressive tread but if its wider than 265 then it too will probably suck.
