Paint Chipping At Tailgate

So anyways, I was loading the bed of my pickup truck about a month ago and noticed a large patch of paint missing on the inside of the tailgate at the bottom where the tailgate meets the bed.

I immediately began yelling at my brother, figuring he just scratched the crap out of the tailgate without caring.

My brother then pointed out that the paint was missing on various spots of the tailgate, and paint was missing from the box of the truck in the identical place.

So I decided to leave it until I brought it into the dealership, and when I brought it in, they said "This is normal, we have seen this before. There is nothing we can do."

What the hell?! What kind of crap is that?! I mean, the paint is literally gone from those spots, it's rubbed down to the bare metal. Touch up paint will do nothing because it will just rub off. Yay. Winter is coming and I'm going to have a rusty truck. :wtf::lol::D:D

So does anyone else have this problem? I'll take some pictures tonight to explain what I'm talking about.

It's not from the bedliner. The paint is rubbing off the bed and tailgate as you can see in the first photo. I've already checked the bedliner and there is no paint chips on it.

its from the bedliner

Nope,Its not because of the bedliner,Its not touching any of the bare metal areas,Its from the tailgate contacting the floor of the bed.

The dealer "might" be able to adjust the tailgate "out" a little, but I'm not sure.

agreed. hopefully there's an adjustment, and once it's adjusted (assuming the bed wasn't tweaked from some abnormal hit or something) they should paint it.

mine has enough clearance...yours might be off. It definetly looks like its hitting the bed of the truck though. I have some chips but not to the metal, and not from it hitting either.

Did they forget the tailgate bushings? The bushings would give it a bit more "lift" - maybe enough to avoid this rubbing.

Line X it !

Not sure about the new trucks but G.M. trucks of years past had no adjustment for the tailgate.

When the tailgate is up and you look down at the floor of the bed at the gate is there any sort of gap at all??
