Man that sucks. When I had my last Sierra, I backed into a concrete garbage can and scraped up the back fender. The truck was 2 weeks old , so I feel your pain.

That's a welded on panel that is part of the bed. No quickie replacement for that. Not at all like a bolt on fender replacement. It looks like, from the pic, that it's easily fixable and repainted though. Not too bad.

 

It does suck though!

Scraped and dented in. Don't know if I want to do it on the cheap or replace the sheetmetal. Depends on price.

Thanks for the encouraging words Bonez. From the manuals I know it isn't an easy bolt on/off. Rivets and such. I am more concerned with the quality of the paintwork. I am bringing it in tomorrow for estimates.

Looking at the pic it appears there is no need to replace the box side. Just some metal work, filler, and paint will do just fine.

Just back the truck in next time, pull out and scrap the other side of the truck. At least then it's matching and symmetric.

Ouch! That really sucks. Though the damage doesn't look too bad for a good body shop to take care of. The repainting will probably be of better quality than the original. Or you could maybe just put on fender flares to cover it up. <kidding>

+1 Now would be a great time to bolt on some bada$$ fender flares to cover up the damage!

Damn dude, that sucks. We've all done some stupid stuff like that, I was just lucky it wasn't concrete...

 

And don't rush the body shop thing, and don't necessarily go with the cheapest place. When I was looking for a shop to replace my rocker panel, I went to about 7 shops until I found one that I felt comfortable with. (Coincidentally, it also happened to be one of the least expensive shops too). Good luck.
