wlvrn1215 Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 Well...the other day I got a wild hair up my a$$ and decided to check out the prices on the new trucks. Went in and the offered me a whoping 19,000 for my truck ...I almost crapped my pants....no way I was taking that kind of hit. But before he made me an offer I test drove an 08 2500 HD W\ allison trans. This thing was awsome. Didnt have any of the bells and whistles mine had like the dic and other stuff but it ran like a beast. As soon as the turbo spooled up the thing wanted to kick sideways. Well I had a little fun and thats when he offered me the low amount. The truck MSRP was 45 and change and with the cash back and GM employee pricing it was 34 grand. Not bad. Just wanted to post my experience. I know what my next truck is going to be now.
dietz4ibanez Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 You that was the mistake I made... First I test drove my bosses Dmax a couple years ago pulling bobcats... And last year I went to the dealer and test drove a loaded to the hilt dmax for some free movie tickets... I have been wanting one for years...
wlvrn1215 Posted September 13, 2008 Author Posted September 13, 2008 I can't wait till I can trade mine and not loose much or any if possible. Im really happy with my silvy but since I drove that Duramax...man, I was drooling.
merlin5577 Posted September 14, 2008 Posted September 14, 2008 since I drove that Duramax...man, I was drooling. I know that feeling, except I fell too hard for it and took one home.
msgreene36 Posted September 14, 2008 Posted September 14, 2008 I know exactly how you feel buddy about falling to hard, thats what i did also, i just couldn't see anyone else but me driving it after i test drove it. The hardest part about it was explaning it to my wife when i pulled in the drive way, she didnt have a clue that i was even test driving a new truck.
svensk Posted September 14, 2008 Posted September 14, 2008 Sounds like someone has turbo envy. You know there's cheaper ways to make your truck faster than it is to buy a D-max...just sayin.
dietz4ibanez Posted September 14, 2008 Posted September 14, 2008 Yeah but adding a turbo to a gasser is not going to promise you longevity like the Duramax has shown... haha I told my wife that there was something wrong with the black truck when I was on the way home with the new one and the sales person was following me home with the black truck!

Is that thing long bed>? And hoe much did you give for the cap... Been thinking about getting one for my truck during hunting season! Night and day! The YukonXL served me well for the 6 years I had it....and with a large family, I needed the seating capacity. However, 2 are already moved out, and a third has started college, so I don't need to large seating capacity anymore. the deal I got on the truck I just couldn't pass. The truck is a long-bed, total lengh = 23feet. But what a tow rig! The cap came to @ 1300 and painted to match. It's only clamped on, so it can easily be removed once I get a 5th wheel. I'll keep the cap for the winter time after the 5th wheel. With all the Scout camps I attend, having a covered bed makes for a crap load of space for gear. ;)
wlvrn1215 Posted September 15, 2008 Author Posted September 15, 2008 23 foot!! damn..must be hell to park. That is the ultimate tow rig.
dietz4ibanez Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 Yeah I bet the turning is worse than my truck...
