Hello - Need some help here,

I picked up a used 06 2500HD Dmax crew in 07 with 13K miles - happy with the truck I have recently noticed that only one of the indicator lights is lit on the rear view mirror, the left one. These are located towards the bottom of the mirror near the onstart compass power etc. I believe these are referencing the airbags as my manual has no picture of my mirror, shows several others but not mine for some reason. Others seem to have additional info like AIRBAG OF/ON. I do not think it is a weight sensing system and I have no other text in the mirror area in regards to the airbags, symbols or otherwise. It has on-star, compass, temp, appears to be 100% GM. The only symbol I see is on the regular dash to the left of the tach I think there appears to be a airbag symbol that goes off shortly after starting. I have no codes showing in the DIC etc...my concern is that my passenger airbag is either (a) not activated or (b) the light has gone out either due to a lose wire or the small EL backlight has failed. I have had 300 lb people in it and my 125 lb wife, light does not come on for either. The left indicator is on all the time. I could swear the right was on as well all the time - am I imagining things?

Thanks,

Jim

As far as being concerned about your airbags at key on you should get 7 flashes of the airbag light on the dash then it should go out. If it does that there are no system faults. For your mirror can you post a closer pic minus the photoshop dots, I think the part you are asking about isn't a light it is the light sensor for mirror dimming, but I can't tell from that picture.

This is the only image I have, I am trying to find another online to that will show more detail. The lights I am refering to are dimly lit, not bright as you eluded to. I will post another image as soon as I can find one. Anyone else have any?

This?

I modded your image, my rv is a bit different - maybe older? Hopefully this makes it clearer. Please have a look.

I have to run for today, I will take an image of mine late tonight and post tomorrow to straighten this out, I will check back later though. Maybe one light is power and the other is a sensor. I still swear there were two of them on. I just cannot find anything in my manual about them. Likely should buy the Helms...

If you are talking about that small window directly to the right of the onstar emergency button that is the onstar status led. If it is anything other than green there is an onstar system problem. If it's red then there is a hardware fault, if there is no light at all there is a power issue. If you are talking about where my finger is pointing which is slightly to the right of the onstar status led that is a photocell.

Sparks -

I think you are right on the money with the onstar! By chance I depressed the onstar button yesterday and the light came on immediately asking me if wanted to activate etc.... I think when I purchased the truck it had about 7-8 months of Onstar service on it left over from the previous owner. This ran out a couple of months back and the light turned off. It is not red, just not lit up.

Does this make sense? And what does the indicator on the left mean? It does not go off when I power down the compass etc... Does that siginify power to the system or airbags active? The optical sensor is well above this area in the middle.
