New Wheels And Sensors

Recommended Posts

I finally got the new wheels and tires on the truck yesterday. For some reason I cannot get it to learn the new pressure sensors.

I have followed the owners manual procedure to the letter and cannot get it to learn them.

Is there a special procedure for learning new sensors vs. relocating existing sensors?

What is ironic is that it has yet to trigger a fault in the TPMS, it still displays the pressure from the OEM wheels before they were stolen.

When I got my new wheels/tires I drove for a day with out relearning for the new sensors and I never got any kind of error. I just followed what the owners manual said and it work just fine. Turn on the ignition and press and hold the lock and unlock buttons on the keyless entry and wait till the horn beeps and then it says sensor learn or something like that and then you start with the drivers side front and let air out until the horn beeps once then move to the passenger front let air out till the horn beeps then passenger back then drivers back and once its done the horn beeps twice and your all set. If this is what you tried and it didn't work then I'm not sure what to suggest. Good luck :dunno:

I've been thru the same thing with my 2007 one...You got take it to a tire shop or dealer ,to make the ECM recognize the new sensors ,there's no other way.they are gonna use a TPMS trigger tool to do that!

Elia, do you have the DIC switches?

Just for future reference.

1. New TPMS sensors are in a storage state to preserve battery life. Normal relearn will not work. They have to be woke-up with a 125khz signal from a TPMS tool.

2. BCM will not set a TPMS fault unless the vehicle is driven 28 miles continuously.
