Installing Sub Wiring 08 Silverado

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone,

Just purchased my 08 Silverado and am quite happy with it.

It is the Ext Cab model and I plan on installing a sub underneath the driver side rear seat in the next month or so. I was wondering if anyone on here had completed this and if so how difficult of a job it was to complete.

Is it tough to break through to the firewall to run the power? and the kick panels?

I ran wiring through my old Ranger and it was a pretty easy task (although Ford's cheap quality made it easy to pull apart)

Any advice would be appreciated.

i haven't got around to anything but a HU in my truck, but i ran an 8gauge power wire in my dads truck and it wasnt too bad, theres a rubber grommet on the driversside above the fuse box (the one on the floor) that i put his thru and it worked fine, you can do it with a coat hanger, some windex or w490 (so it slides thru easier) and some electrical tape,

the kickpannels and floor pannels are real easy they just snap right off....

that probably wasnt very helpful because im bad at describing things ( a few beers never helps either ) but to sum it up....yes it is pretty easy as far as amp installs go and it definatly can be done

Posting in the stereo section would be a good start first off, but no its not difficult if you know how to do this sort of thing. First off your better off drilling a hole near the factory grommet, i did mine just to left of it on the outside. Pop in a new grommet for the power wire. You'll have to remove relay box under the driver side too to grabbing the wire easier. Then just order the pac harness for the rca's and turn on lead, got mine on ebay for about 25 versus 45 or so in the stores. No kick panel or floor panel meaning carpet i guess is needed.
