Ok I've a 97 silverado with 149K, got it about 2 weeks or so ago, thinking of doing the transmission fluid w/ Amsoil. It's got a new rebuilt transmission, last year, approx. 15-20K old. Good or bad idea? Any comments thoughts, ideas are appreciated. Thanks much!

I converted my Yuk XL to Amsoil Full Syn approx 3 years ago. It had about 45K on it at the time and I have never had any issues at all. I did this simply because I tow a 6500 lb camper with the truck and was looking for extra insurance. Some say syn is not the way to go for a trans. Chysler has been using syn since the mid 90s and now GM is using it as well with the Dex VI

If this was the original tranny, I would say no. I don't like to touch the fluid unless its been changed every 30k or so on a high mileage truck. But on a rebuild with 20K, I would say go for it.
