2005 Vs. 2008 K1500 Gvwr 6400 Vs 7000?

My 2005 Sierra 1500 Extra Cab Z71 has a 6400lb GVWR, and the 2008 models I've looked at have a 7000 GVWR.....any idea what the differences are? Maybe just some new marketing? I can't imagine that, but looks like the same engine, transmission, and rear axle. Just curious if anyone has noticed this as well...

I am just taking a guess here but I think the NBS trucks are a little heavier then the OBS trucks. Also maybe because of the redesigned suspension, fully boxed frame, and other enhancements made to the NBS trucks they have a higher GVWR.

I believe that the body is thinner, thus leading to a slightly lower weight - but I believe there were other improvements as well.

The frame is also lighter (and stronger).

is the frame made up of steel???

Uh, yeah. But it lost weight and gained strength due to more use of Hydroforming.

and a mixture of the Subway diet and exercise. :shakehead:

Yep, it's a Jared frame. Although I don't know if he actually got any stronger? :banghead:
