Volant Cai ?

I ordered a Volant Powercore CAI today, and was wondering how the install is. If anybody has any experience installing these that is. I have heard from a couple of guys with older trucks that things didn't line up the way they were supposed to and drilling was required. Anyway, any guidance would be appreciated. I also added a Flowmaster 50 series with turndown. Sounds goood.

I installed my Volant CAI this past April with minimal issues, its fairly straight forward. The only bad thing I kept hearing when I was researching the Volant was how terrible the instructions for install were....which it turned out to be true.

At the time the Power Core filter wasn't an option, so I have the traditional cone shape filter instead, I'm curious how well the Power Core works....any feedback would be great.

Yeah, I heard that the instructions are junk as well. It should arrive Monday sometime, and once installed I will post.

Looking at possibly purchasing the Volant CAI. Curious about the PowerCore as well.

Also, with the Volant, is it very loud other than when you get into the throttle hard? Any whining? The last one I had on a different truck whined between 1800 and 2200 rpm's, very annoying.

I don't have the PowerCore in mine.

But, the only time I notice my CAI is when I get on the accelerator pretty good. No whine that I've noticed at any speeds.. just the "roar" of a lot of air being sucked in when you get on the gas pedal.

Anyone using the tube to the intake?

Does your PowerCore filter angle towards the fender hole? Mine doesn't, doesn't look like the the great one-page installation doc. Seems like it's got the wrong filter box adapter or something. Maybe this is normal?

See this picture, how the filter is slightly angled toward the fender hole, mine doesn't angle, it's even with the top and is even going to touch the lid once I put it on.

According to Volant, I was sent the wrong filter. They are going to overnight me one Monday.

See this picture, how the filter is slightly angled toward the fender hole, mine doesn't angle, it's even with the top and is even going to touch the lid once I put it on.

I had to rotate the filter to get it in the right position, but yes it is angled a bit.

Slightly different vehicle, but I put one on my H2. Was way easy, fit well, quality part!

I will attach pics later. Just one question. Why is there a whole underneath the Nov and doesn't it make the box susceptible to water?-

Not too sure, but maybe for added air intake? And also maybe so that if you ever get mud or other junk in the box for whatever reason, you could spray it down and clean it and it will drain.
