Automatic Headlights Shorting Out.

I've got a problem with the headlights in an 01 Silverado. The automatic headlights no longer come on when I start it up. I have to adjust the steering column to get them to come on. It's like there is a short somewhere in the column. Any help on this?

Thanks

What do you actually have to do to the steering column to get them to come on? If it were a short you'd most likely have a blown fuse although it could be an intermittent circuit. I do believe the only wiring in the steering column associated w/ the lights is running to/from the multi function switch. Does it happen all the time or just now and then? Maybe Sparkstech will chime in later when he gets the chance.

If fiddling with the steering column "fixes" it then I would think it's something wrong with the high beam dimmer switch or the wiring going to it.

You may have a loose wire or plug going to your Body Control Module. Crawl under and make sure the 3 connectors to the BCM are snug!!
