How Can I Tell If My 2500hd Can Use Ethanol

It's an '01 2500HD and I think I remember seeing alternate fuel blah,blah, on the original paperwork desribing the options. How can I determine this? I also have an '02 Tahoe that I think may be alt/fuel compatible. A pre-emptive thank you for any light you fellas may be able to shed on this subjetc

Ill guess its a no for your 2500HD. For both, check the 8th letter on your vin is a Z. Then your E85 capable!

You can run E10 in any modern gasoline vehicle. If your rig is set up to run E85 you you will have the "Flex-Fuel" badges on it.

On your build sheet it will say (GM Conversion). Those are the ones that run on flex fuel.

The Tahoe is E85 compatible per the "Z" found in the VIN, sadly the 2500 isn't. The Flex Fuel badges may or may not be on an E85 vehicle per the parts guy at our local dealer. Ny neighbor and I both have E85 compatible Tahoes and neither has any badging that would indicate so

I have seen nothing more than an E85 sticker on the inside of the fuel door on some E 85 compatible vehicles, like Dodge Caravan with a 3.3 liter V6. the sticker says "E85 or gasoline". You must open the fuel fill door to see it though.

Not always, some older models have a regular black gas cap. In fact, I just filled up a 2006 Dodge Stratus today (Air Force vehicle) with E 85 and the only hint that this was a flex fuel vehicle was a small sticker on the inside of the fuel door. The gas cap was black.
