2006 Gmc Sierra Crew Cab Slt Turn On Tpms

I have a 2006 Sierra Crew Cab Sierra SLT. I read on here that TPMS could be turned on. I bought a set of sensors and had them put on when I got new tires. The truck is at a GM dealer right now and they are having no luck turning it on. Can anyone help?

i think you have to have the main sensor to make it work, along with the dic....

The dealer asked for my VIN# to verify this before I brought it in. He said it could be done.

So the dealer says he couldn't do it(no charge) and that GM is witholding certain codes for aftermarket suppliers. He is directing me to a place that does tires and tunes and says they should be able to do it. Does this info sound right?

It is possible. The dealership has to use the tech ii in concert with your VIN to get the programming codes from the GM Tech Center (or TAC Center). GM has been known to hold the codes and/or charge higher rates for them. to 'turn on' my power folding mirrors, GM wanted to charge $150.00 for the programming codes. I told them no thanks

I wasn't offered the more expensive programming, just the alternative of an aftermarket shop...I will call them tomorrow and see if they can do it.

so the tire shop says he doesn't know, but he could possibly do it, and the performance shop says no....does the dealer I brought it to make a difference?? I brought it to a chevy dealer but I drive a gmc??? someone please help this is driving me nuts
