Auxillary Power Outlet "weak"

This is on my 04 Silverado ECSB 5.3L

 

A few weeks back, I plugged my small 100w inverter into my aux power outlet. I plugged my laptop into the inverter, and it was too much for it, and killed the inverter. I figured I just blew the fuse for the outlet, and just made a note to fix it later.

 

The other day, I went to replace the fuse for the outlet, and it was fine. Pulled it out and checked with my continuity tester and it tested fine. Put it back in, but still nothing works when plugged into the outlet. I took my multimeter and read the outlet and I am only getting around 10v or so.

 

I am going to pull the underhood fuse block up and see if there is something amiss there, but where else should I look? I know I should look at the back of the outlet, but I am not sure how to pull the dash apart.

I run a pretty heavy duty inverter in my company car Explorer off of the aux outlet and have for over a year. You should be able to do the same. Maybe the ground isn't solid?

I pulled the dash apart, and looked to see what was going on. Checked power at the harness, and had 12v. Plugged the harness back in, and it worked... Started to wiggle the harness and it would go in and out (the voltage). So I guess the socket is bad.

 

I bent the contacts out a little more so it would make better contact... but how in the hell do you get the socket out?
