Update On Tranny Issue

i had a issue with my tranny not shifting out of first till it warmed up.

so i took it to the dealer they had it two days gave me a free loaner which i called a clown car. it was a cobalt base model no air no tilt no cruise now power nuttin. but it was free and got 40 mpg which was a nice change to 16 mpg.

anyway

they found no issue

and guess what it wouldnt do what i was claiming it did for them......go figure.

so they cant fix whats not broken.

so i told him i will drive it till it blows and i get a check engine light. which might not happen cause i blew the tranny pump out 4 months ago and there was nuttin on my dic to tell me anything was wrong which i thought was funny

well that is my story/vent.

by the way the truck is a 07 silvy with a 5.3

My truck does the same thing. It hangs in 1st too long and its really noticable and annoying. I want them to redo my shift points. We'll see what happens.

I would not be satisfied with that and keep on them. I know it has to be a PIA not having your truck and driving a cobalt but keep on them to get satisfaction. These warrantys are there for a reason.

I read somewhere that the trans delays upshifts bu a few hundred rpm when the engine is cold to help warm up the coolant so your toes get warmer faster. Dunno if your just shifts late, or not all, but figured I'd throw this in the mix....

where I live - pretty cold right now, I have almost same issue - talking to dealer is no point in my case - they says "that just the way it is".

well !

This is what I did so far... I start my truck before I go anythere using my remote - then smoke a Cigarette untill truck is pretty hot.

I'm no kidding, its good for me and my truck.... (it is better than their extented warranty that I have)

Is it not shifting out of first, PERIOD, or just taking longer than usual? If it's the latter, as Rat4Go said, I'm pretty sure it's delaying the shift to a higher rpm to help warm up the engine. That only works to your benefit.

3 out of the 4 times that it has done it now the truck was cold the other time i was on the hiway for a half hour stopped for a minute with the truck running when i left it did it.

but i dont think its suppose to rev up to 4000 rpm before it hits second. whenever it did it i would let off so it wouldnt slam into second. but one thing i did notice if i stop put it in park and then drive again it would work fine.

Well it's not supposed to rev THAT high to warm up :) . It's also not supposed to delay the shifts like that when it's warm, either. Hope you can get it to do the same thing for the dealer.
