Groaning Noise While Turning..

Have a 2000 gmc z71.. its not making a popping noise while turning. just a groaning rubbing type sound... anybody else have this issue? I don't think the intermediate shaft is the problem..

Check the powersteering fluid level. If its low, it will make a groaning sound at low levels.

I did.. level is fine.... this is felt through the column up into the steering wheel... no noise outside...

bump because my 04 Hoe is doing the same thing!! I have a feeling its the powersteering pump so I think I'm just goin to switch it out this weekend.

I don't know if the front diffs in the regular 4x4's are the same as the AWD SS's or not, but "ALOT" of us AWD SSS'ers have low speed growl while turning. The dealer calls it "normal frontend growl", which I think is BS. Mine started doing it shortly after I drove it off the showroom floor and still does it even after having the front diff rebuilt a few months ago. I went about 40k miles before they had to completely rebuild it so hopefully I will have sold it before it goes again, which I think it will. The bill for the rebuild was almost $2000.
