Gasket Sets

Im going to pull the heads on my 2000 5.3 silverado to fix the broken exhaust studs and manifold gaskets. What gaskets will i need??

 

Im assuming just the intake, head, exhaust gaskets. Any others in there while i have it apart? Do i need new head bolts or are they

reusable?

 

Where can i get them reasonably? and quickly?

Same here. I don't know what is in your area. You'll need the upper set along with the head gaskets. Most head gasket sets will come with what you need. Do you have anything like Full Service or CarQuest up that way? I don't trust Autozone or Oreilly myself. (if those are up there)

 

You might find a NAPA up that way. I know they have stores all over.

Intake manifold, head, valve cover, throttle body, intake valley, and exhaust manifold gaskets. You can reuse the head bolts but if it was me, replace them. Depending on if/how much they have stretched, the heads might not seal correctly. My suggestion would be to check out summitracing.com or autozone.com for prices and such. Good luck.

I do have NAPA. I try and buy most of my parts from them because or quality. Ill be giving them a call today for pricing

and availability. The truck has 192,000 on it so maybe its best to change the head bolts? I wasnt sure if i could re-use them.

Your NAPA guy will make sure you've got everything you need for the job.

NAPA has been using Victor Reinz for years but most of their locations have made the move to Fel Pro. We are still supplied by Victor. I would not hesitate to use either brand on my vehicle but I would avoid the economy brands.

 

TXAB is correct, a good Counterman in any store will make sure you have what you need. Just make sure you find a good one, not a guy who can simply key year make and model into an idiot box.
