I remember having one as a kid, a real pos one. I think Mattel made it. I think I would like to get an all in one, just incase if I ever accidentally loose my figaro chain thats 37 grams and my wedding ring that's around it thats gold and platnium, which cost me alot of money! wife tends to loose jewelry from time to time, so I guess an all in one would be appropriate. Maybe I'll even start making trips to the hosptial waste Jersey Shore and comb the beaches, as soon as I start wearing depends in the next 40 years, so it's gotta last.

Tesoro is a very good brand, White is also very good. I've owned them both. The Tesoro with a notch was set up for coins, relics and gold. The white was fairly complicated but had target ID that was fairy accurrate. Neither one is cheap but the White is quite a bit more. In my opinion, the Tesoro which has a lifetime warranty is the best bang for the money.

Here's their website.

I have a Garrett Treasure Ace 300 that I bought 7 or 8 years ago. It was a mid price unit new but It's been a good one. It is quite simple compared to some of the high priced units but has all of the necessary electronics and uses good coils. If you don't want to break the bank, it is a pretty useful detector.

I just ordered this one..

I read reviews on it that were good. I opted to purchase the scratch and dent one, which is basically damage to outter carton only, and was reduced to $189.00. Also ordered head phones, which help save on battery. It should arrive by Weds as they are located in FL. This also seems like an interesting hobby to do, as I would find an interest in finding stuff. Last year I accidentally unearthed a silver spoon with my ATV. The spoon was dated back to early 1900's after running company information on the internet. The spoon itself was damaged, but I did clean it up the best I can. Always wondered if there is anything else under ground on my property. Maybe some more old silver spoons? Finding buried treasure is exciting. I also have an invisible dog fence, which a detector will come in handy to find when it fails. It has falied a few times and the flags are mostly long gone, and finding the wire which runs about 3 acres in distance can be trouble some.
