Window Visor Removal

Recommended Posts

Posted

I just popped mine off about a half hour ago, they

did not come off easy, they broke into pieces before coming off.

My problem is, that the adhesive is being a real pain, and is still on around the top

of my doors, and some pieces of visor are still there too.

Any tips or tricks for getting this off?

I think what you are trying to get off is the double sided mounting tape?

It's hard work! Patience and a sore thumb will get it off. Heat is your friend too. Heat it with a hair dryer to make it soft. (obviously be careful to not superheat the paint) Once the tape is gone, some goo-gone or even spray bug&tar remover can help get the residue off - or - 3M makes a general adhesive remover in a squirt can that no shop should be without. It's available at most auto supply places.

yeah, thanks, i already know the sore thumb part, it doesn't help when its cold out.

But on my passenger door, there is still plastic on it, and i already skinned my knuckles trying to

take that off. But thats, im going to try some adhesive remover at work tomorrow, like, "gone" and "vinyl off"

Try heating it up with a hairdryer to soften up the glue, it should make it a little easier to come off.

EDIT: Should have read Jim's post before posting.. :idiot:

I Think I would try alchole and a popsickle stick. We use alchole all the time at work to get the sticky from labels off of rollers. I work for a Label printing plant. Just be sure to rinse it off after whatever you use to get it off so it does not get into your paint and make it peel.
