Is Afm Temerature Dependent?

It was pretty cold here today, and out of curiousity I've been monitoring how frequently AFM kicks into and out of V8/V4 mode and how long it stays in V4 mode. I noticed today that it never kicked into V4 mode until the engine temp got above 169 degrees. Is this normal?

I imagine the engine would not run right on 4 cylinders with 4 dead cylinders while cold. Probably is necessary for even heating of the motor. So, it will run on 8 cylinders till sufficiently warm. 169° is pretty cool for an engine I think.

Yup that normal

I agree. It was 17degrees this am and I was watching to see this on the way to work and no afm until the truck was almost up to operating temp. Same for the ride home.

Thanks! One other observation... I was running the stock tune for a couple days and switched back to the Economy tune and today it was kicking into V4 mode while the engine temp was below 100! Must have something to do with the tune!

Ahhh... It could be, for me I'm running box stock for now. I have been considering a edge tuner however.
