So it's looking like Sirius XM is nearing a failure. Between stupid moves like overpaying for Howard Stern and Sports, and flagging vehicle sales, they are really hurting.

 

My 3 months ended, and I definitely will not renew at the "regular rate". The $77 for a year deal might be good, but could be a waste if the company disappears.

 

I'm thinking wait a while to see if they survive, but wondered what others were doing about XM?

So where is Sirius/XM "failing"?? Combining into one company made sense to them as there was a duplication of service, XM was tanking while Sirius getting more subscribers. I don't see the corporation simply folding up shop and shutting their satellites down. I can't see where vehicle sales hurt them in that sense of the word. Some auto makers offered one service, some offered the other. It's the consumer that decides to extend the radio subscription, not the auto makers.

 

I got a freebie 3 month subscription to XM when I bought my truck and in August, XM and Sirius had not yet combined lots of programming. I have had a Sirius subscription for two years and preferred Sirius over XM anyway. So I did not renew the XM subscription as I had my Sirius radio ready to install in my 08. Of all the phone call I got from XM to renew, nobody ever offered me a $77 renewal term, only the $140-some 1-year term. When a GM receiver is available to replace the XM one in my truck, I'll be doing that install so I can move my Sirius radio inside.

 

If they paid too much for Stern and broadcast rights to sports, then dump Stern at his renewal time and renegotiate the sports coverages. I could give a rip about Stern and for the most part, I prefer TV sports, especially when the local sports taverns have satellite TV with multiple games showing on any given weekend.

XM called me all the time during my free 3 months. Would call me on sunday night at 9. I told them to turn it off I would never pay for it.

I was told yesterday there is no 77 dollar a year deal from XM they offered me 499 lifetime of the reciever sign up and that is all. He did say if I knew a promotion code I could possibly get it better.

I paid for a year after my 3 months ran out and now my year is up i got one bill in the mail for buying it i just could not pay $150 + a year for it so never sent it in just got my credit card bill and they charged me for it ! never called or sent a another bill just went ahead and did it my wife called them the same day we got the bill and she had a hell of a time with them she said she was on the phone for almost a 1/2 hr fighting with them to take it off they told her she coulded do it but then they said they could give us a better deal something like $20 off ! big deal up here in vermont you go a few yards and you lose it all the time i liked it but no way am i paying that amount you would think since i had payed for a year that they would give a good brake on it maybe the $77 i might go with but they never offerd it to her so now its off and i haven't got any calls sofar begging me to come back plus they are charging me for the week that went over the end date even though i never asked for it ( she had a few choice words for them ) it was only a few bucks but we shoulded have had to pay since we never ok'd it.

I just used one last week. It was zwinback. They lady I spoke to said since i had it and knew about it they would have no problem giving it to me.

Your welcome! As far as how to use it... I'm not sure. I'm not in my truck enough often enough to justify spending even $77 / yr on XM/Sirius. So, I haven't tried it. I'm pretty sure I've read about people using it when they call-in to XM, though.

Won't be renewing my XM radio. I think the signal they send out is too low and sound mono. I just don't like the sound of it. My local FM station kick when I switch to them.

What are they going to do, hunt you down and shoot you, if you give them an invalid code? Call 'em. Try it. It'll work or not. If it doesn't, hit Google and try searching for "$77 xm promo code." That's what I did earlier to find that one. :rolleyes:
