So for a grand total of $15 i now have a 40 chanle CB and a 2.5 foot wip :hitit::dunno: . I know that i have just made my truck Redneck but it just feels right. So my point is have you ever had a CB?

I have had one shortly after I bought the truck. I like to hear the truckers talk on my way to work. Comes in handy when the roads are bad in the winter or there are wrecks. I mounted mine above so I could be more redneck. Actually it made the controls a LOT easier to reach since I drive with my seat all the way back (I'm tall). I installed the antenna as per some recommendations on the forum on the driver's side front, which turned out real nice. I can't stand to go on long trips in the wife's car now because it is odd not hearing all the truckers talk. A lot of times it can provide a good comedy show as well.

LOL... I remember my cousin had a red-neck cell phone in his AMC "whatever" some 30 years ago...it was that conord looking thing with full-time AWD... we had a lot of fun with that radio.....

I have never had a CB, but at one time (years ago) I had a 2-meter HAM set-up in my car...

Buddy of mine (ex/retired trucker) has a massive cobra CB rig in his GMT800....he travels a lot to his fishing house in KY (from OH), and swears by it.

I have an old Cobra 29 (it was a birthday present back in 1977) in the truck that I keep under the back seat. I use it on long trips mainly. Not much room to put it up front permanently since it is an old huge CB. Not like the small things you can get today. It still works great and is a life saver when and if you come upon a wreck and the traffic is backed up for miles.

Heck I even remember my old call sign that you had to get back then. :hitit: KALN-7484

Ah, breaker one-nine, this here's the Rubber Duck. You gotta copy on me, Love Machine? Ah, 10-4, Pig Pen, fer shure, fer shure. By golly, it's clean clear to Taco Town. Yeah, we definitely got us the front door, good buddy. Mercy sakes alive, looks like we got us a convoy...

I haven't installed my CB in my 08 Silverado yet as I'm still trying to find a suitable antenna mount. I have a Cobra 75 WX ST that I use when I tow my Corvette to track days with some other guys. It's a great way to keep in touch for traffic conditions and making sure we all have the same driving directions. Great for agreeing on stops too.

I grew up with a CB in the car and house.

As teen-agers, all my friends had radios and that's how we communicated (no cell phones/email then).

I still have my 40channel SSB radio and it still works perfectly. I had it installed in all my vechicles, great to have when on road trips and the trailer in tow.

Haven't mounted it in the '07 Silverado, can't really find a place to install it. It's a rather large radio. I'll have to look into that over the winter.

Here's a picture of my radio.........
