I understood from reading the rules of this forum that I had to go out and purchase this to qualify. Am I allowed to join now?

We've been wanting a diesel for years. We could not pass up the current deals. Can't wait to break her in so that I can go tow something.

Yep....You can join now :dunno: Welcome :happysad:

What part of Western Pa. you from? I'm about 50 miles South of Pittsburgh here.

Posted

I live about 20 miles north of Butler, PA.

We do allot of camping and at some point we plan on moving up to a 5er'. I've been driving an F150 for 5 years towing a 30' travel trailer. While it did a decent job towing, I just never felt like it had enough power. I wanted the power of a diesel in order to make the step up to our next RV. We hadn't planned on upgrading the truck until 2010 but when I saw the deals that became available on GM products, we could not pass it up!

My buying story goes like this................

Late last Saturday night we stopped on our way through Butler, PA to see what they had on the lot. All of the trucks were covered with a fresh coat of snow and ice from a small winter storm blowing through that evening. It made it impossible to view the window stickers & see the colors real well but we saw that the had three diesel models available. My wife was still not in the same 'truck buying' mode that I was. At this point, I didn't know anything about the 'Red Tag' sale.

Jumping forward to this past Friday......... I have the day off of work to help finish up some Christmas shopping. I decide to go back to the dealer to look at the trucks again. They still had the same three as the previous weekend. Again all of the trucks are cover in snow from yet another brief storm. I was able to look inside and could see the 'Red Tag' on the dash. I was like...... Merry Christmas Dan!

This is what she looked like when I first met her.

Now let's work on the wife. Things were lining up perfectly. The truck I wanted, a color that she'd like & a huge savings. I text the wife to fill her in on what I had found. I relay the info about the truck and the 'Red Tag' sale to her and when I finally get the response, it's like, 'That's nice Hun'. Now I'm starting to get the feeling that she's still not in the 'truck buying' mode. Well, I am. So, I go in to talk to a sales person. We go back and forth a little and he tells me of yet additional dealer incentives that bring the price down even lower, but he also informs me that he's got other people that are looking at that truck. I'm thinking to myself that this is just his sales technique but I can use this with the wife. I text her again and wait for the response. This time she informs me that someone that she works with has a friend that was looking at the same truck the night before and is thinking about buying it. Now she's in the 'truck buying' mode! I was able to get the salesman to hold the truck until Saturday morning so that I could have the wife see it and we could go for a test drive.

Saturday morning! We pull in the lot and there she is, all shined up, no snow on her and ready to go. My new best friend, we'll call him Derrick the Salesman, hands me the keys and tells us to take as long as we want. Me, I already love the truck & it didn't take her long either. I think that she was already hooked before we pulled out of the lot to go on our test drive! So we get back and go through all of the usual stuff. Right next to us another couple from Erie, PA purchased one of the other two diesel models. After we finished with all of the paperwork they were taking us back for a meet & great of the service department personal when the other salesman that was next to us brought over two faxes that had just come in. They were both offers that had come in for the truck we had just bought! We were just in time.

Well, that's our story. It's long I know but the way I look at it, Merry Christmas Dan! Wait a second let me look back out this window into the driveway..... Yes! Merry Christmas Dan!

Oh, and goodbye and thanks for all of your years of service. I took this picture of my old ride as I sat in the driver seat of my new GMC Diesel, pickup truck.

And for those two of you that sent in those faxes after we had signed the papers, you would have loved this truck, it's spectacular!

Welcome to the site and nice choice on the truck.

Can any of you post links to good sites to buy some after market products to dress my truck up? I need some ideas on running boards, bed cover, & any other items that could make her more unique. Thanks.
