Quick Head Question

Some one has a set of aluminum heads off of a early 2000s 5.3, I have a 99 6.0 lq4 i believe. Its all iron.

How do the heads compare? Like are the valves the same size and is the combustion chamber bigger or smaller?

 

My truck has 220k miles and i plan to rebuild it one of these days if i ever get money. So i was wondering if these would be considered a upgrade to what i got. I am able to pick up a complete running 5.3 with extra set of heads and a extra intake for only $300.

 

I heard of putting l92 heads on a 6.0 is supposed to be a good combo, what do they come factory on?

It'll bolt up no problem. That's the good part. But... The 5.3 valves are smaller. The combustion chamber is smaller. That'll boost your compression up, but the smaller valves may negate the power gain.

I have heard people doing that with cars (mainly the 5.7L LS1) but I don't think it would be a good combo for a truck...but that's just my opinion.
