Every year I have a hard time trying to come up with an idea. If I ask him and he doesnt offer much input either. I usually end up getting him a Sears gift card that results in some new tools. He has a lot of tools, mostly automotive. Thanks for any ideas.

What hobbies does he have?

And money always works. :D

He doesnt have many hobbies. I dont remember him going fishing or hunting in the last 15 years. He used to buy and collect guns as kind of a hobby, but he doesnt have many guns anymore. Doesnt religiously follow sports. Money and gift cards always work I just like to come up with an actual gift if I can, more personal or whatever.

Does beer drinking count as a hobby???

You could buy him some neon signs or something with Budweiser, Miller, Coors, or whatever he drinks to hang in the garage or something?

Maybe buy him some of those beer steins?

I usually just get my old man a gift card from a steak house. If I buy him anything he just bitches about it. I can hear him now, "dammit, how many times have I told you, don't buy us anything, if I want something, we'll go get it." That must be where I get it from, because that is the same thing I tell my 3 girls.

Always buy your father something you'd like to inherit. Okay, J/K. Depending on your budget, a pressure washer would rock and plenty of father and son bonding can be had with a 3000 PSI water spray as a catalyst. Make it something a chick would not buy. Cordless drill always brings a tear to my eye. A few bottles of shine and a night of blistering debauchery free of motherly influence would always warm the Pater's cockles. He'll really love it if you both end up puking on the neighbor's lawn.
