I purchased a 2008 GMC Sierra Ex Cab brand new in mid october, after a couple of weeks I notice that the paint on the both front doors don't match the rest of the truck (Silver Birch) It is noticeable at any angle or light. 3 dealerships say there IS a problem but the local GMC rep says he dont see a problem with the paint. So he won't approve repair. What are my options when a company won't stand behind there warrantys. The truck now has 1700 miles on it Please Help

It probably got damaged during shipping and they repaired it. I would do what Scott just told you...hope everything goes well.

Sure looks like a difference in color to me. What did the rep say?

Have you offered to drive it through their front window at 60 mph on a busy Saturday yet? I would.

I would call or email the Service Manager and explain the situation and set up an appointment to walk the vehicle with him, get an estimate from the other 3 other dealerships with the information of the issue and show the Service manage that 3 other dealer ships state that this is indeed a problem. If the Service manager will not resolve the issue then I would then ask to schedule an appointment with the General Manager of the dealership to review the issue! The best of luck as this is not something you should have to fight for if it is a legit problem.

Went to dealer I purchaed it from around mid November, He looked at it from all possible angles and he said that the paint does'nt match (No kidding) then he proceeded to tel me its an environmental issue ????? Then said if he painted the doors that it would not match the rest of the truck (I guess he hasnt heard of blending) In the end he said I have a problem but he could not do anything about it. So I went to dealer #2, The service manager said there is a mismatch in the paint, reffered me to dealer #3 (Dealer #2 does not have body shop) Dealer #3 is the largest in tulsa (Chevrolet, I have a GMC). The body shop manager said that there is an issue with my paint, An easy fix, Paint both front doors and blend paint front and rear, But has to get a sublet to paint from GMC to paint at a Chevy dealer. Dealer #2 asked for a sublet from district GMC rep who happened to be in town. He does not see the problem with the paint, so he refused to allow repair. Called dealer #4, He called rep for approval of paint repiars (The same Rep) Said no again.

This is my 4th brand new GMC in my lifetime (The 3rd in 5 Years)

I've argued in GMs favor all of my life. Loyal GM owner.

This is the respect I get.

Thank you for any Ideas or suggestions.

Call the BBB , If they wont do anything , take it to the news. If that dealership gets a reporter on his ass he will have it painted before you can say lawsuit. :jester:

Call and make a appointment with the General Manager and the owner of the Dealer Ship. If no results there then move on up the ladder. Do not stop until it gets resolved. If you wanted mismatch paint you would have bought a used truck!

I've experienced a similar problem with DC with my bro's 98 Jeep Wrangler. Dealership would not honor the Fed 8yr 80K miles cat convertor warranty. I called the 1800 number in the back of my owners manual and explained the situation and the next day that same dealership called me and they would be happy to perform the replacement.

I would get in touch with GM directly. Should be a 1800 number in the back of the owners manual. I would think they will work with you on this as they need the best PR they can get right now. If still no satisfaction use every credible source to motivate them. BBB, local news channels, newspapers. It seems the press will jump on anything to make a US automaker look bad.

Good Luck

(Dec 23th) Contacted the BBB online to file a complaint late in the day.

(Dec 24th) Recieved email confirmation from BBB this morning

(Dec 23th) GM contacted me this afternoon about the BBB complaint, said that they would contact me Friday afternoon (Dec 26th) to talk about it.

I'll cross my fingers

Thanks and Merry CHRISTmas !!!!!!!
