2008 Block Heater.

Can someone tell me the GM part numbers to order the block heater and cord for a 2008 5.3. I called the dealership and they said the heater was around $42 and the cord was like $160. I was hoping I could find them online cheaper then what the dealer has. Or does anyone know of any aftermarket ones that work well.

That has to be the most expensive 10 inch cord I will ever seen. Someone must pullin' your pisser for prices like that, although I believe the cord does have a thermostat built into it, but I still cannot justify that price. I am sure one of the "in" will chime in and verify this.

One reason for the insane dealer price might be due to the fact that the factory cords have a built in t-stat (as Outbacker mentioned above) that only allows the heater to operate at -18c or colder. I would look for an aftermarket heater for this reason alone.

Hope this helps and Merry Christmas!
