Heater Fan Replacement-? From New Member

Hello all,

I just got a 95 C1500 for my son and the first thing I have to fix is the fan motor for the heating and AC. It does not come on at all, but when I turn the fan switch to the high position I can hear the relay click down by the fan motor. I don't have a repair manual yet so I don't know what has to be removed to gain access to the fan. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

If the fan isn't working, it's probably the blower resistor that sits on the blower box. To get to it, you have to remove the glove box and just unplug the resistor and unbolt 2 screws. Pretty easy.

I took the glove box off and couldn't see the resistor at all. Where is it exactly?

Do you see the relay behind the glovebox? It's between the heater duct and dash. The blower motor resistor is just behind the relay.

and you will see two screws of the resistor.

I have a 1994 6.5L TD K2500, the fan isn't working. I opened & checked the resistor : it is OK and I heard the clicks when I change the speed of the fan but no air. The fuse is OK too.

I think I must change the Blower motor, I don't have my book here because I'm in travel. Do you know where is the Blower motor and how to change it ? Thanks

It's super easy to change, at least with the 95+ dashes. The motor is located below the dash on the passenger side nearby the kick panel. It's covered by a plastic panel.

Your browser is fine, there just aren't any photos.

I replaced the Blower motor but It isn't easy. With my Suburban 94, to take the Plastic cover of the blower motor out I must move the ECM (computer) and the 4 screws which hold the base of the ECM. It's very tigth , no space.

The fan work but on the Medium-high and High speed only. I checked the resistor again. It look fine.

What's the problem ?

"It look fine?" While granted, the resistor I changed out did have some charring on it, there doesn't have to be any visible damage for the resistor to be bad. Only working on the highest speeds reeks of resistor.
