Roll Up Tonneau Covers

I've found 3 different brands of roll-up tonneau covers that all appear to be about the same:

- Truxedo

- Access Cover

- Truck Hyde

I found a note on a Dakota forum about dealers dropping Truxedo because of quality problems and the covers coming unlatched on the road.  I know there are some Access Cover fans here.  Does the fact that Access Cover uses female models in their photos add to the quality of the covers?  Anyone compare these 3 brands?

Hey Greg,

I haven't heard of Truck Hyde or Truxedo, Access covers seem to be know here in the forum.

The only downside to the roll-up type covers are the cold climates. I heard they don't roll-up all to well with ice or snow.

I looked into getting one for easier bed access, but living in New England and the weather we have would've been a waste of my money.

Ok, a little research and quick reading. I originally thought you meant the mechanical type rollups.

Truxedo and Truck Hyde both use Velcro to fasten the cover to the rails. This provides a smooth look.

I'd be interested to hear about either product.

I have an Access cover on my HD which I orginally had on my '99 Z71.  I really like it.  I live in MN where it gets colder than, well you know, and it works without any problems.  It fits great and does the job.  Three years old now and still is holding up like it was new.  Can't complain at all.

I decided on a Truxedo from Midwest Truck in Redford, MI.  They have it in stock for $365.  Also getting a Pop&Lock to go with it.

I'll pick up the S-10 on Monday, have it Line-Xed and pick up the Truxedo on Tuesday, then put the Truxedo on Weds or Thurs.  I'll deliver the truck to my son, ready to go, on Friday.  He's paying for the Line-X and we're splitting the cost of the top.  Oh, and he's paying for the truck.
