Driver's Side Power Door Lock

I have searched the forums pretty well and have not found anyone else with the exact same problem, so here goes.

2002 Z-71 Tahoe

My driver''s side power door lock does not work at all. It will not lock/unlock any of the doors. No movement at all. The passenger side will lock/unlock all of the doors except the driver''s side. When I put it in drive all doors except the drivers will lock and when put it in park all doors will unlock except driver''s door. No movement at all. Also, the power mirrors do not work. All windows work fine from all doors.

The key fob will lock/unlock all of the other doors except the drivers side.

I have checked all the fuses I know to check in the door jam and under the hood. Didn''t appear to be any related fuses under the dash.

Thanks!!

Sounds like the solenoid is gone out. I had to replace one on my 98 F-150 but have never done itt on a GM. It wasn't too hard a job. Hope this helps.

Check your fuse labeled "DDM"

which stands for Driver Door Module

which controls door locks, and mirror operation.

If all fuses are ok, and wiring is good up to the Driver Door Module, then you are looking at a DDM replacement

I'd be VERY careful checking wiring...these trucks like to break wires in the pass-thru at the driver door jam

Let us know what you find. DDM is in driver door.

Thanks for the advice...I will check into these things this afternoon!

I checked all three fuse panels and there isn't a fuse labeled DDM. I looked for another fuse that may have the same function but the only thing I found were relays and breakers. I haven't checked the wiring yet. I did pull out the plug from the door lock module and put a test light to it. Nothing. I checked the passenger side and did find a constant hot. I don't know much about wiring, so using a meter is above my knowledge. Someone told me that it may be the door lock actuator. Thoughts??

When you say solenoid, do you mean the actuator?

I had the same problem on my 06 Silverado CC. EVERYTHING you described! I "massaged" the rubber boot that protects the wiring to the door, cycled the the truck a few times (started it up) and during the trucks self check phase the power lock and window worked for a very short duration and went dead. It drove me nuts, and I made an appointment to see the a** rapist...er, I mean my local Chevy dealership to inspect, repair/replace what ever module that was causing the problem. The evening before I took it in the back lights started to flicker on the control group. They would stay on, go out, and come back on until it went steady and never had a problem since then. The problem lasted for three or four days, and the onset was during a very damp and very cold night.

I'm not sure if something got wet and needed to "dry out", but the whole ordeal drove me nuts...especialy on a vehicle that was a little less than three years old.

Ironically, my lock stopped working on a very cold damp night. In fact, it got so cold and damp that my parking brake froze. I didn't drive it for 2 days until it thawed out. Parking brake came loose....driver's door lock hasn't worked since. That was almost a month ago. So you never replaced anything? It just pretty much dried out and it worked?

Yes, how ever I checked all fuses and nothing was blown. I also attempted to to pull the module and have one of electrician buddies at work help me find any potential shorts or grounds. I got most of it off with the exception of the FWD end. With the cold temp I did not want to snap anything and reseated the module. Thats when I started getting some power w/ the vehicle self checks. I understand your frustration. Using the key to lock/unlock your driver door seems like a PIA theses days...

I have some guy who is supposed to be a certified GM mechanic telling me it's the actuator, but I'm almost certain it's not. If it was the actuator the driver's door would be the only door affected. In my case the lock/unlock switch does nothing for any of the doors. It almost has to not be getting power to the switch, relay or the switch itself is fried. I'll figure it out eventually I guess. Thanks for the help.
