Hello everyone. I am a new member to this forum and I have a few questions to ask. Before I do that, I would like to thank the owner and moderators for creating and maintaining this forum. I wish to also thank the other members for the data, photos and stories which have kept me both informed and entertained over the past months that I have been lurking here. I thought I knew a fair amount about the mechanical aspects of cars and trucks but since I have started reading this forum I have learned a great deal more which has helped me with my truck and those of my friends. I have been on the internet for ten years now and of all the forums that I have encountered and still frequent, this is the first one that has enticed me to join and post on it. I will post my questions in this section of the forum but I would invite anyone who frequents the other areas to reply as well, if they wish.

When looking under the hood of my 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 5.3 Z-71 extended cab truck I noticed what looked like a broken armoured grounding wire which I am sure once extended from the hood down to the firewall on the middle left side right in front of the steering wheel.

Is this actualy a broken grounding wire and could it be responsible for either a B0100 airbag code or an unknown ABS code? The airbag light in the instument panel is on and my mechanic tells me that the truck has both the B0100 airbag code and an ABS code which I can't remember the number of. Is it likely or even possible that any of the three are related?

If the three aren't related in any way, what is the purpose of that armoured wire and what are the consequences of not repairing it?

Thank you in advance for any and all help you can give me.

Cheers, lvlagnum.

Hello again everyone.

I forgot to mention that when I discovered the broken grounding wire or what ever it is, it was dangling from the hood down into the engine compartment in front of where the driver sits. Is there anything in that area of the engine compartment that the broken and free end of this wire could come in contact with and short out? Please keep in mind that a scan of my truck is showing an airbag code B0100 and also an ABS code that I can't remember the number of.

Cheers, lvlagnum.
