drpipes Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 I just got my truck back after a 6 inch BDS lift and the addition of 35 inch tires. Sits a little low in the back but the shop says they can lift the rear another inch. The main difference I have noticed is the braking is extremely rough (a substantial shudder as the truck comes to a stop). Funny but it is not consistently bad. Anyone else with this problem? Pictures coming soon.
2000DV4.8 Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 I'd check to make sure they removed the little clips off of the rear studs. They are there to hold the drums together during assembly, but are no longer needed, and they tend to interfere with aftermarket wheels and cause vibrations.
hockeypro1411 Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 With that much more rolling mass, it probably wouldn't hurt to get new, bigger brakes anyway.

Yep, almost guarantee thats it, dumbF@#k at discount tires forgot to take them off when i first got my aftermarkets, had to go back.
J-man67 Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 I also think its the stud clips on the rear. Take your wheels off, remove the clips, throw them away, put wheels back on. Should fix it. Let us know what happens!
callyer Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 Depending on how aggressive your tread is, sometimes when you area coming to a stop it will feel like you didn't get the clutch in fast enough(going over small bumps), even though you are driving an automatic.. I have ridden in a few trucks like this, i think it is the flex of the treadblocks at low speeds and with the additional weight on them due to the breaking... just another thought.

I was thinking that too at first, but the ATZ is a fairly mild tire, much less aggressive than the MTZs on my truck, and I barely feel that vibration when stopping.
Dano07 Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 Can someone take a picture of the clip people are refering to. I will be putting aftermarket rims on my truck soon.
jcgilpin Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 They are just C-clips, around the studs..if you watch them at the garage when they are trading the wheels, they should take some needlenose pilers and pry them off.
drpipes Posted January 12, 2009 Author Posted January 12, 2009 The clips were the problem. Had them removed and no more problems with the brakes. Thanks for the help!!!!
