I have a 2006 GMC seirra 4x4. I am going to replace tires and wheels, I was wondering if 16" rims would fit on this truck it came factory with 17" . I think 4x4's look better with smaller rims and the tires are cheaper and have more selections. thanks

In 2005 GM went to a larger rotor and caliper that required a change to 17" wheels. The hybrids and 2500s stayed with the 16s.

So in other words, no the 16" wheels will not fit.

We had a similar thread the other day about 06 SUVs, it was said that the SUVs were ok they still had 4 wheel disc brakes, that the Pickups had gone to larger front disc brakes and drums in the back. It was the larger front disc brakes that were a problem on being able to take the pickups back to 16" wheels. You will need to look up the brake codes on your truck to be sure.

I too like 16" rims better on 4x4 trucks with nice oversized AT or off road tires.

That is what I thought just wanted to make sure thanks guys . buy the way the brake code on my truck is JF3 power disks with ABS

Just got around to looking it up. Trucks with codes JF3 and JF7 must use 17" wheels. 16s will not fit.

Have a good one :D

thanks ,do you like diablo sport tunner did it help power and mileage I need to buy a tunner after I change my tires .

I like the Diablo tuner real well. All the guys on here like the custom tunes, but for me I wouldn't give up my Diablo. On the GMT 800 it will take out a lot of torque management. You can fine tune parameters up to 15%. I have a computer hook-up where I can receive custom tunes as well. :D
